Mintay - Nightfall Collection

Hello my crafty friends

I do hope you have been able to be crafty during June.

This month I have a layout for you that I did with the new Mintay Nightfall collection, which by the way is just stunning.

This collection is available online or instore at Craft On the Run

I started with selecting the papers I would use with a slight idea in mind.

Then it was about cutting and placing what I wanted were.
There were a few different variations until I settled on the one above.

Ok now its time to get the variation I liked stuck down.
Some as you can see I used foam tape to elevate slightly.

Then came the photo for me.
This pose from my 2 girls was just perfect.

Now my friends Mintay are making there own lasercuts. This being the doily in the pictures.
They are very sturdy and easy to use.
I cut the doily in half for this layout, the other half I can use later.

Mintay are also doing the words in there lasercuts which I have used on this layout.
They are big and take color well.
The picture below shows original coloring and the ones above have been lightly colored using oxides.
I have also added a little bling in the form of some diamante's and sequins.

And here my friends is the finished product.
I must say it is lovely and easy to work with such a beautiful collection.

I hope it inspires you to have a go with this very pretty papers and great lasercuts from the Mintay Nightfall collection.

Self Care Reflection

Recently I have been doing my Family Tree which has lead me to reflect on some of the things that have happened in my life that I have not really given any thought to until now and how these little things have affected my future creative being.
Let me tell this story and see if you maybe you can relate to it.

When I was a little a girl of about 8/9yrs old I entered an Art Competition (I loved to draw) at the local country fair in a small country town where I lived at the time. I was very happy and proud with my texta drawn and colored picture of a tree but did not have any expectations in the competition. In fact by the time the judging day came around I had forgotten I had even entered.

Anyways on way to the local fair I popped in to see my Dad at work. He was the local Railways Station Master. There I found out that I had won my age group in the competition, I was so happy and proud but my Dad was prouder I think. He gave me 20cents as a reward WOW 20cents that was a lot for a 8/9 yr old then. (we are talking about 45+yrs ago). I went onto the fair and went to see my winning art piece. I was standing there being congratulated by all the adults, mums and dads of my friends from school etc. but now I think on it there were no congrats from friends or my 3 brothers or sister (sister was to young lol). At the time I thought nothing of it. I was just soaking up the attention.

Later that day we had like a pageant of floats on trucks down the main street. During this procession there was a raffle being drawn and my brother had a ticket in. After begging Mum for the money to buy it. Well anyways a long story short he won that raffle. His prize was a very bright lime green bean bag, they were of course all the rage back then and he became very popular with his peers very quickly.

Everyone was so happy discussing jumping congratulating etc. and my achievement was lost. I understand that we were only kids still learning our emotions etc.

But I do wonder where in my creative journey I would be now IF I had continued to draw. But what if our IF's were fairies and those IF's were takin by these fairies and later when you are ready to embrace that IF the fairies now return that IF to you in the form of an opportunity.

Sounds a bit way out there but if opportunity knocks shouldn't we at least open the door?
Look for your IF's they may be out there....

Well I don't know about you but I feel little better for getting this out … thank you for taking the time to read it.💓

Until next Time ….CRAFT ON !!!!

Designer Papers

Remember last blog I said I would elaborate further on the designer paper that I used on the layout featured. Well he goes........

I applied for a position on the DT for Thoughtful Studios (TS) unfortunately I was not successful but I did develop a beautiful friendship with the owner and have been offered a guest DT spot next month which of course I am really excited about. I will share more about that as it happens.

Today I really just wanted to put her details and her products out there for everyone to check out. Go have a look and see what you think.
Marie the owner is always happy to answer any questions.

Talking to Marie I can see a lot of new stuff coming from her studio she is venturing into journalling kits etc as well. Very exciting times ahead for this venture.

All contact details are below.

New Year Blues

Hello Fellow Crafters

How are we travelling so far this year?
Are we over school holidays yet?
Have we forgotten those silly new year resolutions that last for 5 minutes?
I know I'm over it all.

I am looking to find inspiration of a different kind this year. I want to be motivated and inspired by what I do and achieve this year.
Now be prepared as Im not in the greatest of head spaces so far this year so there may be some weird and wonderful stuff hit my pages.
I plan to use my creativeness to help heal my mind and put me back to normal. (and that depends on if I can remember what normal is).

I have found that being inspired and following others has put so many ideas and techniques etc in my head that when I sit down to create there is nothing. Its all gone.
I need to and am going to start to write my ideas down, maybe that will take some the congestion out of my head.

So this year for me at least must be a time for myself to create from within and learn about me, to inspire and influence myself as well as others along the way.
